M-Box is a Shop Floor Monitoring system with real-time equipment performance data and Built-in Project management functionality. This article explains how you can get started quickly with Basic and Advanced projects.
_____________________________________________
Basic project – A project to which you can schedule user tasks and production jobs
Advanced project – A project with products and work orders
Product (in project) – Any item for which there will be work orders within this project’s scope. A project can hold multiple Products
Work Order – Result from Products (in project) and are delegated to an (Operational) Department. The department head will create User tasks and/or Production jobs to complete the Work Order
User Task (Task) – A task needs to be completed by a person. Any user can create tasks on the system
Production Job (Job) – Jobs are created when (partial) products go to a machine or workstation for handling
Quick Task/Job – Tasks or jobs that are created that have no connection to a project
For novice users to the M-Box system, simply use the basic project functionality (by default your portal is set to basic projects). You will soon get familiar with the jobs and tasks and may decide you need detailed information for more complex projects (with multiple products and work orders). You can change the setting in your company layout to allow advanced projects.
Also, the system allows for upgrading of Basic Projects to Advanced Projects at any time.
Role in Projects | Description | Rights and responsibilities |
Tasks/Jobs | Contributes to the project by completing tasks and jobs | • Only sees own Tasks/Jobs. • Can change status on these. • Can access file attachments connected to their Tasks/Jobs. |
Team member | Contributes to the project by completing tasks and jobs. | • Can see all Tasks/Jobs connected to the project • Can change status on Tasks/Jobs created by or assigned to them • Can access all attachments connected to the project • Gets notifications for Tasks/Jobs created by or assigned to them |
Project manager | Has the final responsibility for the project. This person may not oversee the management of the project team daily | • Can see all Tasks/Jobs connected to the project • Can change status on all Tasks/Jobs connected to the project • Can access all attachments connected to the project • Gets notifications on each new Tasks/Jobs and status change. |
Team Leader | Oversees daily management of the project |
Each project member should have one of the above roles, but none of these roles is mandatory. We recommend selecting at least one team leader or project manager.
Tasks and Jobs can be assigned to the different levels of the project: Project/Product/Work order.
This allows you to precisely allocate the User time and the Machine time that is tracked by M-Box. For example: activities that are related to the overall project but cannot be allocated to a specific product within the project. Or, activities that can be allocated to a product but not to an individual work order.
By assigning the Tasks and jobs on the correct level of the project, you will have the most accurate insight in the time spent for:
Project level: | Tracks User time AND workstation time (total and productive time) of all tasks and jobs: |
Project | Assigned to that project + products + work orders |
Products | Assigned to that product + all work orders related to that product |
Work orders | Assigned to that work order |
